here is the link: I set it up on a unibody mac with the beta VDJ, but it should work for other versions provided you don't have Nvidia sound cards (latest gen macs). Beta works on the Nvidia card a the video shows. There is 3 parts. This is the first, I will post links to the other as they get uploaded. http://www.apple.com/pro/techniques/aggregateaudio/ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3956 Be sure, you are logged as administrator when you create the aggregate device If you're already logged in as admin and it still won't work, my best bet would be damaged permissions -- launch the Disk Utility application and choose "Repair Disk Permissions." |
Here the link for Video # 2: This one talks about how to configure the timecode. |
And lastly video #3: This is just me spinning a set with the timecodes. I unfortunately forgot to balance my needle and screwed things up towards the end. The CDX performed flawlessly though... |
Great Vids and congrats on the new star. |
Yes, thank you for the videos. I have just a comment about video#2 : Gain knob on the timecode config is only a zoom (for the green circle) in timecode mode (it only acts as a gain if timecode_bypass is used) |
Are you sure? Perhaps I am using timeode_bypass, because I use that all the time to adjust between my vinyl timecodes and CDJ, and notice a big difference when I do. I do recomend setting the gain on the Maya control Panel, thats is the spot it makes the most sense to adjust, I only used the gain in this video as I had two very different setups. |
Funny that you don't trust me. You don't use timecode_bypass otherwise your timecode wouldn't work ;-) |
timecode_bypass is used when you want to play a real record on your turntable through the sound card. |

You don't use timecode_bypass otherwise your timecode wouldn't work ;-) I completely trust you :) I'm just trying to figure out why when adjust the gain on the vinyl timecode it seems to work, maybe it's due to me zooming in and refining the silence... thanks for the clarity though. I never use timecode_bypass as I don't spin actual vinyl anymore. |

Hi, liking the mix :) I have a problem which wasn't indicated in any of the video. I have followed the first and second videos, but when I get to the stage where I add an aggregate device, there is only one option for Maya44 USB. So I don't have 4 IN and 4 OUT as two separate checked options I have 4 IN 4 OUT all on the same line..? I have added a pic below to illustrate my situation... http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8254/82485078.jpg |

Hi ! Everyone Can I use PIONEER : CDJ 800 MKII player and PIONEER : DJM 400 Mixier to control the Numark Virtual Dj software ? Now I try to setup on Mac but it do't work . anyone can help me how to easy setup ? Thank you so much . |
Hi thank you for the reply I am running 10.5.7 and now 10.5.8. I recall it may have stopped working after I upgraded to 10.5.7 from whatever was previous to that... but that's the only thing I can think of. But this means that everyone else Maya44 USB will do this if OSX is updated..? As you can imagine I am baffled, and Virtual DJ timecodes are out of the question until I fix it :( |
I test 10.5.8. It does effectively wipe out your ability to use the Maya 44 USB. It does however resolve the original issue with Mac looking at the card as two separate card and now registers it as a true 4in/4out card. In theory this should make it so you don't need to set up an aggregate device. However, with 10.5.8 I can't get the timecode to pop up period. This should be a noted bug with the Maya 44, but I don't belive Virtual DJ officially supports it. If you can roll back to 10.5.6 you'll be in luck. |
OK! At least we know what the issue is now. And yes, same as me I cannot get any timecode signal at all! My laptop was updated on a multi license copy, which I dont have, so I cannot roll back without a disc! Surely there is a way to get VDJ working with the Maya, if not, which other cards/boxes can I use? I only went with the Maya because of the reviews and price!! |
I've tried all my trick. I can get it working a little when I screw with the latency, but it goes haywire very quickly. For now Bootcamp is your only option, or wait for the new Hercules USB sound card. |
OK mate, thank you for all your help, I understand that the Windows version will always be more stable though anyway? - so Bootcamp is still the better option regardless..? Do you have any literature on the new Hercules soundcard? all I can find is this one: http://www.djstore.com/item/soundcards/herdeejaytrim.htm |

I plan on ordering one to mess with. I'm also debating upgrading to snow leopard to see if it improves.. |
Cool cool. Will the link above I sent work though out of interest? It's down as a 4 IN/4 OUT card... Also just out of interest what are the "official" supported soundcards for Virtual DJ? |
The link above will work; that is the new controller form Hercules. The Hercules RMX and Numark Cue are the only two I believe that are supported for Time codes. Although the Hercules is an all in one, it has analog inputs and can be used as a sound card. Mine starts popping and getting weird after an hour, so I'm not big on recommending it for club use, and I personally think it is overpriced for what it does. |
