I only know of one database for all media in VDJ, But that's an Idea that may have some advantages?
Audio, Video, Karaoke Databases Hmmm...

I would like to see a Venue folder that could be nested, That's an Advantage For Quick show Delivery Hmmm...

What do you think?

What do you mean by "venue folder"?? Last I checked files can be grouped and sorted by type (e.g. audio, video & karaoke) but there is not a "venue" format. You can't group tracks by a type that doesn't exist. And what is "quick show delivery"? Please be more clear with your request.

This is what filter folders are for. If you want to sort by a non-existant field then either use virtual folders, favorite folders or use filter folders and put the data in a field you can use - for example comments.

Database
1. Right now only one database exist for all media.
2. What I mean is the idea to have multi databases, One Audio, One for Video, One for Karaoke this may speed things up.

Venue Folders
3. Venue folders nested. what do I mean?
4. Example: Venue Folder = Tomy's Lounge Main Folder.
5. Then add sub folder Audio Tracks
6. Then add sub folder Video Tracks
7. Then add sub folder Karaoke Tracks
8. Or what ever works for that particular Venue
9. You have an advantage for a quick start organized all under One folder.
10. Virtual folders can't be nested and if you do many venues it gets confusing with so many folders.

I hope this clears it up.

Thank You

Why would it speed things up?

Nesting of folders has been requested in the past. For now you could create one folder per venue, then use the browser toggle to switch between viewing video/audio/karaoke though.

Anwser:
It's just an idea because of all the posts read concerning this issue with people that have large databases, and I will eventually will be faced with the same if it's not addressed.

Answer:
Yes that would be a work around.

But for the must part people including myself chose to organize by folder types, Pop, Reggae, Country, Rock, where you can find all that type of music easily in one place, then you can further organize by 80's, 90's 2000's or other scheme sub folders, More intuitive to the Adverage Computer User..
So my point here is to stick to the wheel that most people roll with.

Thank you

As I said, nested folders all that you need. I was merely pointing out it's already been requested and noted by the dev team :)

Hi SBDJ

I appreciate your reponse Thank You.

Question:
I'm looking for a way to import XML data into Access database program do my edits and then save back to VDJ XML Database.
Is this possible?

Thank you

Joey.....

No problem; it's a feature I would definately like to see added too.

XML can be imported into access, but it's not a straight simple import. Exporting it back would be even more fun. Editing the XML directly would probably be far simpler. You can do it in a text editor or a purpose-designed XML editor.

What are you looking to edit exactly?

Hi
Thanks for the reply.

Rather then going into the xml file to edit, it seems to me it would be easier to import the file content in a columned defind field order so the data within the fields would be more easily understood and can be sorted for spotting errors and omissions more quickly, spacing, spelling, upper/lower case, word alignment, disc #, Track # sorted by album, Artist, Title, Disc.# the list go's on & on..

The advantages using a Access database program to fix all these types of discrepancies is much easier then in a text editor.

Also another great advantage is the ability to globally change data within a field in seconds if needed insted of editing for hours one at a time.

If there is a way to do this, I would appreciate the advise.

Thank you

Hi SBDJ

This is an example of what the datafields would look like on the top and the data it represents underneath each field column.

Thanks
Joey....

Hi SBDJ

Any suggestions on exporting XML database info to Access or maybe a program that would act as a Access type program within the XML database?

I'm having a Tag problem with VDJ on a large amount of vob, wav, wma files, seems that after using Tag&Rename to tag all only the Covers import into VDJ and not the other information fields?

Would appreciate any help on this.

Thank You

Joey....
