| Inviato Thu 05 Nov 09 @ 3:14 am i got a whole bunch of it... i lived in hawaii for a while. what kind of gig is it? older crowd? or youger? are u looking for more traditional hula songs or more comtemporary reggae island jamz? theres a couple of imixes in iTunes u should check out.. Hawaii Jammin and Mele O Hawaii. they got some good stuff in there. other popular newer island artists are J. Boog, Fiji, Ekolu, Rebel Souljahz. theres a bunch more. where is the gig at anyways? |

I did a gig for a large Samoan group, some were from Tonga and they liked similar stuff, but people from Hawaii, the Philippines and other areas like different stuff. Surprisingly enough most Pacific Islanders (40's and under) like American Hip Hop and R&B but of course you need to have their native music as well. DJ RuDe |

Worth asking here for any further ideas though as there might be requests - would be good to have something to offer as apart from a couple of Brother Love songs... I've been djing forever but this is the first time I have been asked for traditional Island music, except for an occasional special song at a wedding. Crowd mostly older I'm expecting - maybe 30 to 40+ Gig is in New Zealand Thanks heaps all - any further suggestions appreciated. Prefer not to use premixed cds. |

Only a small part remains in my collection..... coconut Dance Laa Cooka Racha I Luv Ya Smile Mexican Techno ye ha Snoop Dog Scratch mix Stayin alive Goes Hip Hop Latin. reggae. hip hop, local island artists from the islands and auckland, be prepared to play music they may bring.
