same problem in virtual DJ 8 as version 7
i search a song name, and sometimes the exact match is way down the list buried with partial matches, making it hard on the eyes, and time wasting to find songs
in this attachement you can see that the exact match is a few lines down from the top, but i have seen way worse, sometimes i have to scroll down to find it.
there are several other songs by the same name "chan chan" are way down the list, not even on the screen.

to search exact string use "chan chan" with the "" around ..

right, but i think you are missing my point.
why should the exact results not be at the top of the list above the other partial results? would that not be better?

In your example, the browser results are sorted by Artist. That's why the blanks are at the top, followed by numerals, then A B C etc.
Chan chan is where it is because the artist starts with C.
