Topic: Selecting 'Options' crashed the main control screen. [SOLVED] - Page: 1

Hi All
Just installed version 8.2 on on my Aspire E5-571 - (Intel Core i3-4030U 1.9GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD) with Windows 10.
Every other version of VDJ 8 has worked faultlessly with my setup, but sadly I have a major issue with 8.2.
If I have a video loaded (Playing or not) and click the options button, the options panel fails to show properly and stays on top flickering like crazy obscuring the left hand player.
Windows is up to date, as are the video drivers. I have optimised my machine for VDJ and only use it for that.
I have uploaded a short video which shows the problem, but as it was filmed on my phone, it doesn't show that the panel is flickering like crazy.

I am using the default skin.
CPU is hardly moving, and the video playback on monitor two is not effected.
However I have noticed that the video playback monitor flickers to desktop and back to video if I minimise and then full screen the main program.
None of these things happen with any of the previous versions. I have reinstalled version 8.1 and that is still working fine.
Help!!

Is this only happening when a video file is loaded ?
While a video file is loaded, what does the videoWindowPosition setting in VirtualDJ Settings->OPTIONS tab show ?

What is the brand/model of your video card ?

Yes, it only happens when I have a video file loaded, window position is :-
(0x0 1366x728)=0x0 1366x768, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 1366x728)=1366x0 1366x768, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 1280x728)=1366x0 1280x768, (0x0 1366x738)=393x203 435x344, (0x0 1366x738; 1366x0 1366x738)=1366x0 1366x768, (0x0 1366x738; 1366x0 1280x738)=1366x0 1280x768, (0x0 1366x768)=26x26 400x250, (0x0 1366x738; 1366x0 1920x1050)=1366x0 1920x1080, (0x0 1366x768; 1366x0 1920x1080)=1366x0 1920x1080, (0x0 1366x730)=96x96 400x486, (0x0 1366x738; 1366x0 1680x1020)=1366x0 1680x1050, (0x0 1366x738; 1366x0 1920x1080)=1366x0 1920x1080, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 1920x1080)=1366x0 1920x1080, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 1024x768)=1366x0 1024x768, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 720x576)=1366x0 720x576, (0x0 1366x728; 1366x0 1920x1200)=1366x0 1920x1200

Can you delete (or rather rename/backup) the settings.xml file from Documents/VirtualDJ folder and try again ?

Inviato Mon 06 Jun 16 @ 10:00 pm
That's it! Thank you - Will get everything back how I like it - Many thanks :D

You can try to put the old settings.xml file back in place and delete the <videoWindowposition> line

Spoke too soon.... As soon as I make any changes to the settings, the fault returns.

Inviato Mon 06 Jun 16 @ 10:10 pm
What setting(s) did you change ?

Inviato Mon 06 Jun 16 @ 10:12 pm
Not sure just a couple I think - will do one at a time until I find which one causes it. But that will have to wait till tomorrow.

Ok. Let us know!

Ok thought so that this setting was not causing the issue by its own.

Can you also check videoUseDVXA, videoForceFullscreen (no as default)

Inviato Mon 06 Jun 16 @ 10:16 pm
I have a similar issue and checking the "NO" on videoUseDVXA solved the problem for me.

Inviato Tue 07 Jun 16 @ 12:18 am
Well, curiouser and curiouser.
I tried loads of different settings, and none of them caused the issue to reoccur.
So then I copied my original Settings.xml file back and guess what - the problem still hasn't come back.
Will do some more tests this evening - will leave it running doing stuff all evening.

Same here, when I have a video loaded and is playing and choose options the options menu start starts blinking in the wrong (left up corner) place. I can't click on any option, because the buttons are not clickable in the right place. Intel hd 520... Please fix this..

Inviato Tue 07 Jun 16 @ 7:15 pm
I have to mention that deleting the xml file doesn't work when I only set setvideofullscreen on 1 it happens again. But I need this option, because of tearing when I set it on 0 (to low fps).

Inviato Tue 07 Jun 16 @ 7:20 pm
setvideofullscreen = videoForceFullscreen.. sorry

Inviato Tue 07 Jun 16 @ 7:21 pm
After more testing with an new settings file the option videoUseDVXA ON triggers the error. But with the option off my fps drops dramatically. This was not the case in 8.1. There was the setting ON but no errors with the option page. I hope this is a extra info to fix this error.

So only the combination of videoForceFullScreen = 1 and useDXVA = yes causes it?
Can you try what happens with videoForceFullScreen = -1 and useDXVA = yes ?

Inviato Wed 08 Jun 16 @ 5:01 am
I have tried this and the error won't occur again. But the FPS will drop dramatically again. So this is not really a good solution...

Note: this is happening with 2 different systems. Both running WIN7 64bits one on HD graphics 3000 (backup) the other HD graphics 520.
