I have two sets of 8 pads, I want 8 to control left deck pads, and the other 8 to control deck right. But the pad pages apply to all pads, so how can I get these pads to act independently controlling their own decks? I have all the pads on the left side mapped to "Deck left pad #", and deck right for right. When I change the pads page, it changes it for both. When I use one of the pads, it controls the active deck, not the deck specified.

Remove 'deck left' and just map as 'pad x' and it will use the deck it was triggered from.

Are you using a natively supported controller or one with a custom definition ? In case of a custom one, how are these Pads/buttons are defined in the definition ?

I actually have 64 pads in total, its not a launchpad, but similar. Do I need to add deck=left/right on the pads?

If the unit doesnt have obvious sides, it makes sense not to define any deck="" in definition.
So ,
deck left pad 1
and
deck right pad 1
in mapping file should work independently .
I suppose the one on the Right side is not named as Pad 1, right ?

Here are the mappings for each sides first pad

Plus,
deck left pad_editor
deck right pad_editor
are the same page.
Will I have to create different pad pages for each deck?

I actually solved my problem. It had to do with how I changed the pad pages. Anyway, user error, my fault. Just a mistake. The help was useful though on accomplishing a few other things, so thank you for your time.

Why don't you just say what it is? You've mentioned it in other posts already.
It's an Ableton Push controller.
