i store my video and audio in different folders, but both have gotten quite big now. I Keep the same folder structure for both video and audio so sometimes its easy to mistake which one im browsing. It occurred to me that if we could change the color of the folders it would then make it much easier to know.
is this possible already in VDJ ?

You could also color all the video one color and the audio another.

As above, I have a separate colour in the browser for audio and video.
You can separate them by creating filter folders:
type = video and exists = 1
type= audio and exists = 1
Then select all and change them to a different colour. You can also add different colour options to a custom button or pad page by using either the colour code or name:
browsed_file_color "#FF929292FF"
browsed_file_color "red"

thanks,
thing is i already have used color coding to highlight the main genres of music i play. that makes it much easier to identify the songs from different genres when i have them in the side list. i found that it makes it much easier for me to manage.
