Topic: Broadcast "Muted" by Facebook for Copyright
The broadcast feature is pretty cool, but Facebook muted most of my mix for copyright. Most of my fans are in Facebook - is there a way to work around this?

What did you expect? The music you were playing is owned by someone else. You do not have the right to transmit it.

This has been the case for a very long time. How can you not know?

Whats the point of having the broadcast feature in Virtual DJ, if you can't use it?

It's not a problem to broadcast copyrighted material if you have the correct license. This is how radio stations operate. They pay for a license that gives them permission to broadcast.

However, as Facebook is a social network and not a platform for broadcasters, it's highly likely that the same would happen even if you bought a license, until you were able to prove to Facebook that you were legally entitled to do so.

You can find more info online e.g. https://djtechtools.com/2016/08/22/live-streaming-dj-sets-and-copyright-takedowns/

That makes a lot of sense, you have it but cannot use it. So what's the use. And some of us have the license here to the purchase we brought into.

Any complaints should be raised to Facebook, not vdj. But your complaints won't get very far because this is a very gray area legally. Your best bet is to move your fans to another service.

Twitch will mute your vods but not your live stream currently.

Mixcloud won't mute you at all.

Edit: Just realized this is a 4 year old post, lol.
