So I am on to my second device to test, the NS7iii. And something I just happened to realize as I began to test things out, I need mono output. Thing is, it seems that mono does not exist.
I went into the audio mappings and I was able to select Chan 2 (mono), but there is no discernable difference in the output. To make sure I was not going crazy I fired up SDJP on my other laptop and there is clearly a significant difference.
Test music file is the awfully stereo separated Beatles / In My Life.
Any thoughts?

I was able to find a work-around by going into macOS's accessibility to force mono output.

You could always make a mono copy of tracks like that, using audio editing software.
What I tend to do is make a version that still retains some stereo, but is mixed much narrower.
