Topic: VDJ Crashing (4x) did you get the Log?
Just playing to record something in MP4 format

My Steps:
Deck 1 MP3 song
Deck 2 MP4 video (silence the audio) by bringing down the FADER

hit record and VDJ crashed (tried 4x)

Another try by just loading an MP4 file on a deck

fader down, hit record.. vdj crashed.

edit:
played some more and it looks like when you record in MP4 it's crashes.

Tried on v7148 v7151 v7155 all crashed

it works on v7136

What are your computer specs? It doesn't look like the crash is logged.
Are your graphics card drivers up to date?

Hi Adion,

Maybe VDJ not crashed (that's why no log) but I probably meant was, it FREEZE.

All I do is Load a VIDEO on DECK, push RECORD and VDJ FREEZE but if you play the video before you hit Record, VDJ FREEZE and video continues to play till end (but you can't control VDJ).

I tested this with 2 systems, same result.

You pressed record from the config window?
The time and size also keep increasing at that time? (so only mouse control stops working?)

I can move the Mouse and if I click the X to close config, I will then get the VDJ not responding window (close program or wait to respond screen). But still video continues to play.. After the video ends, there is really nothing you can do but select CLOSE the PROGRAM from the Not Responding screen.

32-bit or 64-bit version of vdj?
Do you have an nvidia gpu?

Inviato Fri 30 Sep 22 @ 4:54 pm
32bit works even with v7157

64bit not working even with v7157

Yes my GPU is Nvidia (2gb)

Can you try if changing the useLowPowerGPU option makes a difference?

I've had freezes playing video the past 2 nights. Friday the video window froze and when I clicked it the spinning circle came up but the music kept playing. Last night it just crashed out completely and killed the music.

Not sure if related. Using the latest public build on windows 10

Adion, it was set to Default. I tried LOW Power and High Power settings, same result.

Could you try to map a button on a controller to crash, then try to reproduce, and when vdj locks up, press the button. That should allow a crash log to be uploaded with some more information.

Thanks for the reply Adion

I've just taken my laptop back to an image from a couple of months ago as it could have been a windows update issue. It installed an older version of the Intel video drivers than the one on the machine which I then overwrote with the latest generic Intel one and that may have caused the problem. I've now permanently disabled windows updates forever.

At first I thought it may have been a problem with the one video file but I reencoded that one and it happened with a different one on the second night.

Will map the button at my next gig and let you know if it happens again.

Be careful having this mapped at a gig though, you don't want to press it accidentally

Handy for stopping the music if a fight breaks out!

Been running on the old image for several hours now and it all seems fine.

I can confirm that on my Desktop PC (test pc), when I updated the drivers (980 series NVidia has an updated driver), the problem went away.

Now with my Workhorse Laptop, Nvidia does not have a Updated Drivers anymore (560m series). I have the last/latest driver installed and never had a problem with my workhorse.

The 32bit version works with no problem and v7136 (x32 or x64) both works.

I am forced to replace my workhorse laptop ? I will but not now, this Workhorse still very strong and expensive when I purchased it (ASUS ROG).

I guess, I'll keep the version v7136 forever just in case I need to record Video, or use the 32bit version.

crossing my finger that in the near future, a new version of VDJ will work again with my workhorse.

Is the option safeVideoDecode set to yes on this older laptop?

If that was the case, then 7168 might fix it

Inviato Wed 12 Oct 22 @ 7:29 am
Adion, you always find the bugs and CRUSHED it.

Thank you, it is fixed v7168

I have two Android apps for video playback.

One hasn't worked with Bluetooth buttons since June and the other hasn't refreshed new video files since April. Despite various emails, bug reports and reviews nothing has been fixed and absolutely no feedback from developers. Both still don't work correctly.

Does that not tell you how brilliant VDJ really is compared to most out there. Direct contact with the developer and fixes in days. Were very lucky.
