Topic: Reproducible ASIO dropouts during Auto Stems analysis (VirtualDJ 2026 Build 9482)
Hello VDJers,

I'm hoping to determine whether this is a known issue or whether anyone else can reproduce it. Maybe even fix it.

My system:

VirtualDJ 2026 Build 9482
Windows 11 Pro 25H2
Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i
Intel Core Ultra 9 386H
NVIDIA RTX 5060 Laptop GPU (latest driver)
32 GB RAM

Controllers tested:

Roland DJ-707M (latest ASIO driver)
Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 (latest ASIO driver)

Both are configured for ASIO, 48 kHz, 512-sample buffer.

Playback is perfectly stable until VirtualDJ starts analysing a newly loaded track, particularly Auto Stems. While stem analysis is running:
Audio stutters/dropouts occur.
The mouse and UI become sluggish.
Controller buttons become temporarily unresponsive.
As soon as analysis finishes, everything immediately returns to normal.

The issue occurs with both local files and TIDAL tracks, so it doesn't appear to be related to streaming.
One could argue that I could just analyse my whole library for stems and then never have to worry, but I need to stream Tidal tracks sometimes while performing and of course I can't afford to have my system stop and stutter during a gig.
If I disable Auto Stems, the problem disappears completely.

AI Lyrics causes only a very brief, minor hiccup, but Auto Stems causes significant stuttering during analysis.

Troubleshooting already performed:
Latest BIOS installed
Latest Lenovo drivers
Latest NVIDIA driver
Latest ASIO drivers
Tested USB-A and USB-C
No USB hub
Memory Integrity disabled (no change)
Windows set to maximum performance
Same behaviour with two completely different ASIO controllers

LatencyMon consistently reports high DPC latency (ACPI.SYS is the highest reported driver), but since the issue is identical across two different ASIO devices and disappears when Auto Stems is disabled, I suspect that may be a symptom rather than the root cause.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour on recent Intel Core Ultra systems, or is there a known setting that affects the scheduling or priority of Auto Stems processing while using ASIO?

Check on your settings:
1) stemsGPU
It should be on automatic. Try to "force" it on nVidia

2) stemsFix
Make sure "Don't use GPU" is NOT selected
 
Holy heck PhantomDeejay, thank you! I feel like I looked through the settings a thousand times, but somehow, like an idiot, whenever I glanced at stemsFix and "Don't use GPU" my stupid brain read it as "Use GPU."
So, massive gratitude to you, from this fool.

Are these "dropouts" more like stuttering, seeming like a "slow motion"? It's been happening to me, but also with the WASAPI drivers. I got burned a lot at my Saturday night gig. I had to close VDJ to stop the sound. Luckily the people like me.

This is with Traktor S4 MK3 and while doing a lot of music videos.

I'm experimenting with this and will see if it makes a difference. Also, I've removed Nvidia GeForce Game Ready drivers and software.
