Topic: is there a way to change VirtualDJ folder of the Database For multiple Computers
i like to know if there is a way i didnt see in the virtual dj settings to tell a computer to point to a different location...
what i want is 2 virtual djs that point to the same nas and since the database gets locked from the first virtual dj.. i wanted to do
VIRTUALDJA
VIRTUALDJB
A folder for the First Virtual DJ Comp
B folder for the Second Virtual DJ Comp
and then they can both use the same nas for the files so i dont need to do duplicate with big hard drives just small sized SSD's is it possible at all?

If you're on Windows you could create a hard link with this command:

mklink /J "C:\VirtualDJ" "[your NAS folder]"

This will point the VirtualDJ database folder to the folder on your NAS.
It basically creates a shortcut on the C:\ to the NAS folder but VDJ (& any other apps) will see as a physical folder.
I use a similar setup on mine & it works perfectly.

ok ill try
how i do it right now is i have 3 comps
my desktop pc that sets up the virtual folders and cues and i use X:
and then my 2 dj comps on gigs use 2 external hard drives point to X: and before i leave home i update 2 hard drives the music and the virtualdj folder so they both the same when i setup

so with the mklink if i copy the music and the virtual dj folder to my mobile nas and will it use the virtualdj folder off the X: or does the mklink only can map the music

also what i do is on the main dj rig since i update folders on gigs i then re copy the virtual dj folder back to my home setup so any changes i did at the gig are now on my desktop pc so i make all the changes on my desktop pc before going out to a gig

i used a nas 25 years ago but it was bulky to do and 10 yrs ago i was going to do it but comps still were too builky now things smaller i can place it under my mixer so i wanna try again

It would probaly be better just to sync the database folder/file when you update the external HDDs.

ah ok the on reason i do it it both ways is when i at a gig and i create new folders at a gig and update things on the fly then i just copy the folder back to the main computer at home so it has the new virtual folders i created at the gig...

ill try the mklink this week i waiting for a new raspberry pi to come in and a mini comp going to test if i can build a all in 1 dj case and computer and elminate use of a laptop but will see but think amazon forgot to drop off at my house and decided to do the couldnt do the delivery answer lol
