when I used 5.07 I had no problems.. then 5.1 and 5.2 started with the time code drifting.. I saw others had the same issue and the issue was NEVER resolved.. I THEN got a response a few days ago that the new verison (6.0) would solve this issue.. WELL, it doesnt! .. I can go into time code config, play a CD and watch at the top where it says 00 when I am at 00 pich in the tip code window.. without doing anything I can see it drift into the negative and then back to zero. it does this over and over. I have tried adjusting all the time code settings but NOTHING seems to fix it. when you are trying to beatmix, it makes it impossible because its drifting.. Also as you move the pitch slides on my CDJ800's i it doesnt respond fast enough as it did with 5.07.
I am running XP HOME wiith a MAYA 44 USB set to FAST LATENCY in the MAYA control panel and a pair of CDJ800's
I really need to get this resolved or I have to go back to 5.07 once again. I really like 6.0 but doesnt look like I can use it.. PLEASE HELP!

Can you give some more info on your settings and step down the Maya latency to Rapid -- does that make a difference?
So screen shots of your settings would be nice.

What do you exactly mean by drifting? Do you mean the move of the pitch/bpm/waveform on the skin?
Inviato Mon 01 Jun 09 @ 7:46 pm
if I go into time code config and play the time code.. the slider on my CDJ is at "0" .. I can see the 2 circle moving and in the right hand top corner of the window where the circles are moving is a 0.0 .. every so often I see it go to -0.5, -0.2, 0.0, -0.5, -0.8, 0.0 .. etc.. its never the same numbers.. because it is doing this, when you are beat mixing it IS drifting and can does not stay on beat.
How do I resolve.. I have spent the last few hours adjusting all the time code settings.. NOTHING will fix the drifting... This never happened in 5.07 and lower versions but started when 5.1 came out..

Well I played some more tonight and got it a lot better but the numbers in the time code config still drift and in the photos in the PDF for 6.0 where it shows how the timecode circles should look.. mine look nothing like that but I get 100% timecode... you can also see the timecode circles SHAKE and when it does that, the numbers move like I said.. any ideas?

Can you provide some pics of your Timecode config? Click the Debug and use that diaglog for capturing the pics.
Inviato Tue 02 Jun 09 @ 10:37 am
if your on vynil the shaking can be caused by slightly warped vynil, my VV had this and ive ended up bying another set

I am using CDJ800's .. I saw in another thread that you no longer need to put the MAYA 44 USB input volume all the way down. Could that be the issue? I had tried the other night moving it UP and it was TOO LOUD and I could not get 100% (only got 0%)... I wont have my system set up again until this weekend. how can I take a screen shot? I tried what I normally do but it didnt take a photo. However, there was a SAVE in the debug screen for the time code.
I really want to know what is causing the shaking with my CDJ 800's.. Ive now tried everything. I even tried a different MAYA 44 USB, newer drivers, different audio cables and burned new time code CD's .. I am using the regular time code CD's NOT the ones that have the sound lowered and they didnt work at all with my setup....

didnt realise you where using cdjs, humm. are there any electrical devices near your cables to the maya i.e. fans, laptop powersupply (the box bit) these can all interfere with the audio signal going to your box.
Inviato Wed 03 Jun 09 @ 10:32 am
YES the power cord for the laptop is in the same power strip and same outlet.. there is no way around that

How old are your needles? :)
Inviato Wed 03 Jun 09 @ 2:01 pm
He's not using needles...
Inviato Wed 03 Jun 09 @ 2:35 pm
humm im out of ideas are you using mk2 cdj's ive been told by a serato user that these can have difficulty with time code.dont know if it can really make a difference and as this is second hand knowledge, its more likely to be something else

as long as you keep the MASTER TEMP OFF you are OK as virtual DJ does master tempo and the time code gets messed up when you have master temp ON on the CDJ units

True, that has always been the case .. hardware master tempo or keylock (other brands) change the timecode signals sound and in return send 'false' signals to the software.

I am also noticing this drifting - It didnt happen in 5.2.1. I had pitch sensitivity set to 0 and it meant the bpm only changed when i moved the slider on the screen - meaning i didnt have to move the pitch slider on my turntable. But now with the same settings I've noticed the bpms changing without me touching the sliders. and this put the mix out of sync. . . im using the maudio conectiv with tcv pitch sesitivity set to 0 and all other boxes in "debug' unchecked. . . any ideas?

No, Pitch Sensitivity of 0 simply meant you didn't see the changes on the skin in V5. It doesn't 'ignore' the changes of the timecode.
And with v6, did you put a check in the Disable Pitch on the Debug tab of the Timecode Config dialog.
Also, with the new Timecode engine you might need to 'tweak' the settings a bit on the Both tab OR on the individual deck tabs if you only need to modify one.
Speaking of which ... in the new Timecode Config there are 3 tabs a BOTH, LEFT, and RIGHT. Remember if you are changing the BOTH then you may be pulling one side out of tolerance with the other ... so if you have one deck that always seems to be a bit 'off' from the other. You should only tweak the settings for that deck and not BOTH.

Oh well i never had a problem with the bpm changing and drifting off before... i tryed checking Disable Pitch but didnt help. I only use One Turntable so only need to adjust one side - I'm going to try again tomorrow, i may need to change the slience area. The old timecode engine worked fine for me - this one allows more advanced tweeking but my be unnecessary for some of us - bring back auto config!
