At last a movie has been made about DJ culture that is worth watching.

‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’ is the biggest British youth culture movie since ‘Trainspotting’.

The black comedy follows the tragic life of fictional superstar DJ Frankie Wilde, played perfectly by Paul Kaye, as he battles to overcome drug-fuelled insanity and deafness in Ibiza.

It’s hilarious, and so close to the bone that clubbers and DJs everywhere will be checking themselves into rehab and going for hearing tests as soon as they walk out of the cinema.

The movie was filmed in various locations across Ibiza including some of the island’s best clubs - DC10, Amnesia, and Pacha all feature.

Some of dance music’s biggest DJs have cameo roles too - Carl Cox, Pete Tong, and Tiesto deliver their lines surprisingly well.

Premi-air Party

Red Bull flew a planeload of deviants to Ibiza for an all-night villa party that went predictably Pete Tong.

The film was shown on the outbound flight and was well received by all, despite an hour-long popcorn air-rage incident.

Then, at the huge, opulent villa in the hills somewhere above Ibiza Town hundreds of dance music misfits, DJs, and celebs partied till six in the morning, with the aid of free Red Bull and alcohol.

Back at the airport there were some embarrassing incidents, as one would expect when dealing with 170 drunken dance music faces.

Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pistols pretended he required a wheelchair, and airport security fell for it. He was led off for a bollocking ten minutes later, after they realised it was wind up.

On the way back to London, some bloke in the plane insisted on having his scrotum photographed.

Altogether, the villa party was exactly the kind of Ibizan hedonistic madness that the film captures so well.

Well done to Red Bull for managing to organise such a daring event. Amazingly, no one missed the flight home.

'It’s All Gone Pete Tong' is out in cinemas across the UK and Eire on May 27th 2005, and around the world sometime after.
