Topic: Lost added song names

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Went into Virtural DJ Pro 6 and started to add names to the songs that did not have any listed in the file. I did this by right clicking on the song then went to file infos. There I entered the name of the song and the artist. I did this for about 260 cd's and everything was going great. Each time I open the files I continued on naming the songs. One day I went into Virtural DJ and tried to open one of the cds that I had already entered song names on only to find the original track numbers but no song names or artistis names. All the cds play ok but all the info I entered is now gone and I can't locate it anywhere. Since I am new working with this program, can anyone tell me what happened. All my data is on an external 1TB drive. I did have an occurance where my drive seem to freeze for a while, but it did begin to work. I have all my 30,000 songs but all the work with the names is gone. If you know anything that will be of assistance, please help.

Thanks, Mario

did you try add hd to database when you plugged it in again.
did you after renaming them move them gto different folders outside vdj.
have you checked my documents to make sure you have a vdj folder (within this is your .xml file which holds your info ect)
try putting a folder on your desktop then add and rename this in vdj close and open vdj and check file info is still there.
for future info remember move change and rename everything in vdj after adding to database.
go to browser and see if you have old entries saved.
att your search bar in vdj click on icon beside it and tell vdj what to search for

Thank you djstaffy for replying to my help message.

Yes to hd add to database when plugged in again

I think I may not have been clear in my posting. I did not rename a folder. What I did was to open in Vir. DJ the database of songs. then i opened a song by right clicking on it and then opened the file infos where it shows the file path. artist, title, and so on. There under title was the track number of the song and not the name of the song. I proceeded to enter the name of the song but leave the tag as the track number. I did not experience any problems. Everyday I would open up Virtual DJ and all of the database was just as I had left it the day before as well as on the hd. I did memtion that my hd had frozen for a short period and that is where I believe my problem occured.

I don't understand when you say go to browser and see if you have old entries saved. The database is there but the names of the songs have reverted back to the original state of tack numbers.

If I didn't understand your suggestions, please forgive me but I did say I am new at this so please be patient with me.

Again thank you so much for trying to help.

your not the first and unfortunately won't be the last, when first getting vdj you go mad filling in all your track info through vdj unfortunately unlike other software it does not write this information to tags, just make sure any information is written to tags before introducing the track to vdj, this way it doesn't matter what machine you play on all your information will always be retrievable.

just to make you feel better been there done that, lol.

have you still got your xml file on the hard drive, if you have make a copy of this and put it into documents > vdj hopefully should cure your problem, you could do this in reverse if there is no xml on your external hard drive.

depending on the size of folder it may take a few hours for vdj to re populate the information.
