As your shown as an LE user, can I presume that you have installed the version of VirtualDJ that came with the controller. The version you should have had with your controller is setup to work, out of the box, with your controller. Other versions of Virtual DJ (except PRO) will probably not recognise your controller, as controller usage is unique to Pro (although a 10 min trial is available in HOME edition as well - I think)

If you are, then the following may help.

I am not familiar with the MixDeck, but would ask, did it come with a driver disk? The DJ Steel I have did come with a driver disc.

Try this:

1) with your Dell running, plug in your controller (windows should recognise a USB device plugged in and make that annoying BING sound)

2) start VirtualDJ

3) click on "Config"

4) click on the "Mappers" tab.

in the drop down box, your controller, if connected correctly, should be listed. If not, click on the button to the right of the drop down box and select "Rescan for new devices) and see if VDJ picks up your controller.

i cant start up virtual dj until the controller is recognised, when i try to start it up it says, controller has not been detected, please plug it in and start up virtual dj again

i guess it would also help to say im using vista, ive tested tested it on an identical laptop with windows 7 and it works, ive also tried it on an identical laptop with vista again and it has the same problem, do you think its vista or the midi? it picks it up every so often, ive actually used it for about 10 minutes before its become unresponsive...

Jon, I make no claims to be an expert in the compatibility of VDJ with Vista, but as a pro coder of 20+ years, I would never entertain Vista.

Vista was so bad that even Microsoft offered "downgrades" to XP for some licences - I have an in-car PC kicking about somewhere, that I downgraded from Vista to XP.

Sorry I can't offer more help.

i couldnt agree more, i shouldnt really expect the virtual dj side of things to be putting ideas out anyway to be honest, i'll take this problem to numark instead for misguiding me to buy this product with the illusion it would work on my laptop, ill be downgrading shortly if they cant give me help soon, thanks for all the help

That's weird, I've had Vista 64 for quite a while and haven't had big problems. I always d/l the windows updates and also I don't install any of the "toolbars" out there that so easily get in your system everytime you sneeze.

I hope I didn't just jynxed myself.

lol

I run audio & video on with a Behringer BD2000 & v5.07 on Vista 32bit no problems. Also I run a Hercules RMX, & (2) Numark V7's with VDJ v7.0.1 on Vista 32bit on my main Acer & backup Gateway laptop without any problems.

the problems with the mixtrack, they are working on a permenant solution

I got Mixtrack Pro and im running XP, and im having the same problem, £200 wasted if i dont sort it.

I am having the same problem. It says the controller is nt recognized and it wont load up. It loads up in my vista laptop with no problem but wont load on XP. Any suggestions???????????

Hi there.

I have helped out a couple of other users in the forums with the exact same issue using Denon controllers. For the last several posts, is this problem happening with your default OS that came with your laptop or computer? This issue is directly related to a driver and/or a firmware update.

Let me know the specs and the installed os and if it is the default os or not.

Cheers
