Hi,
is it possible, to flatten (i.e. remove the hierarchy) inside virtual folders?
What I am bascially trying to do, is that I have two folders on my harddrive, which I want to have a merged view over in VDJ.
Currently I have found two ways to do it, both with their individual downsides:
solution a)
Create a Virtual Folder, and drag all Songs from the folders in question onto the virtual folder.
Effect: When clicking the Virtual Folder, I see all songs i pulled in there at once.
Downside: When either of the source folders changes (i.e. i put new files in there) they will NOT appear inside the virtual folder.
solution b)
Create a Virtual Folder, and drag the two source folders themselves onto the virtual folder.
Effect: The Virtual Folder has two subfolders. When the folders get updated, I also see the new files in there automatically.
Downside: When clicking the Virtual Folder the browser is empty. To see the tracks I have to select either of the subfolders, i.e. I have no merged view of both subfolders.
Only solution b) offers some kind of automatic update. But the merged view that solution a) offers is not given.
Can anybody give me a hint how I can achieve the mentioned layout?

Go with solution B. Right-click on the virtual folder that contains the subfolders, and select "recurse" - you should now see the merged contents of all the subfolders.

Recurse is a solution , but you will have to select recurse each time you click on that folder. Recurse doesnt stay as an option.

I think you can create a filter-folder, then as filter you can type:
filepath starts with "[filepatch folder 1]" or filepath starts with "[filepath folder2]".
filepath starts with "[filepatch folder 1]" or filepath starts with "[filepath folder2]".

Thanks to all of you.
DJJB's solution seems to be what i was looking for. Thanks alot for the hint!
BTW - is there any way to have VDJ rescan those folders. I thought it would do it automatically on startup, but it does not. So the filtered folder I have setup, now only shows the new songs, once I have navigated to the included folders with the VDJs internal directory browser. Maybe there is a way to force a rescan somehow?

If it's not picking up new enries then you'll need to rescan the main "My Music Folder" right click and choose "Add to search db" before your filter folder will pick up those entries...or do it in cong browser tab database Check option...
Good Luck,
