VDJ does not recognise my new Vestax VCI-100 MK2 on my MacBook Pro, instead of the default VCI mapping it loads the default Vestax Typhoon mapping.
On my desktop PC (Win7) VDJ recognises the controller correctly...

I think that maybe the SysExID's of the VCI-100 MK2 and the Typhoon are both switched (or the same) in the default definitions of VDJ OSX.

Does anyone have a custom definition file for the VCI-100 MK2 that I can use or can I find the default definition file on my system and alter it?

tnx..

This is because the VCI-100 MK2 is returning a SysEx ID that conflicts with that used by the Typhoon.

Originally this was not the case (It used a different SysEx ID that did not conflict.) The manufacturer may have made an error in their latest firmware. We will check with them to see if there is a solution.

On PC, this may not be a problem because USB VID/PID is used for identification in preference to SysEx ID (This is not possible on Mac.)

Unfortunately the definition cannot be user altered because it is embedded into the software. However, a custom definition with device name="VCI100MK2" should override it. We are not aware of any user-made definitions and mappers for this controller at this time (It is a new device.)

OK...

I made a new definition file last night that works with the default mapper (my next gig is tonight and my previous controller died on me last weekend)
Not all the functions are in there yet (no leds) but I have basic control now...
I still have a problem mapping the high resolution part (14-bit) of the faders / jogs using CCMSB, i used the VCI-300MKII as a reference but it doesn't seem to work right.

Use cc="number of LSB CC" ccmsb="number of MSB CC", e.g:

cc="0x02" ccmsb="0x01"

If it doesn't work right, swap the numbers for cc and ccmsb.

(When using miditrace or similar to monitor the MIDI signals from the VCI-100 MK2, you will find that each 14-bit one sends two different CC's (The MSB and LSB), which when combined produce the 14-bit value.)

Most likely you are running an old out-of-date version of the software and/or you have not configured it correctly.

Please register your Pro serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and download the latest version from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

Or if you have not purchased the software, please support it and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

You can try it out before purchasing in the latest Home FREE for 10 minutes at a time: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html

See: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VCI-300.html

i have same problem for vci 100 mk2 ...on mac ....any change ..?
Inviato Wed 28 Dec 11 @ 5:02 pm
This may be because the SysEx ID of it has changed since when it was first released.

If you have access to a Windows PC, please use MIDItrace to query its SysEx ID and post it in this topic: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/miditrace.exe (Highlight the VCI-100 MK2 in both sections and click SEND.)

Also, check that the name shown in MacOS Audio MIDI Utility is set to the following (If not, rename it):

VCI-100MKII DJ-Controller

Another possibility is you are using an older version that does not support it. Please download the latest Home FREE from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html and try with that.

NOTE: You will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro to use other MIDI controllers besides the DMC-2 and TotalControl registered to your profile. You can upgrade at a considerable discount by going to: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

I want to buy VDJ to but this problem stops me .....
Inviato Tue 10 Jan 12 @ 1:26 pm
Unfortunately that ID conflicts with some models of the Vestax Typhoon, which is an official controller shipped with VirtualDJ LE.

Because earlier units such as the the Spin and VCI-100 MK2 were not really intended to be used with 3rd party software, they were released with firmware with the same SysEx ID, making it impossible to distinguish between them.

This may be why it is not working because VirtualDJ will think that it's a Typhoon.

If this is the case, your only option would be to make your own mapper for it to override the default. Please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20map%20my%20MIDI%20controller.html

Or alternatively, sell it on eBay and purchase a newer controller that does not have this issue, such as the Vestax Typhoon or the new VCI-400.

Please register your Pro serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then download the latest version from the Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

If you have not purchased VirtualDJ Pro then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Then follow the instructions above to rename the device if necessary to: VCI-100MKII DJ-Controller

If this doesn't work, then you probably have one of the conflicting models. You would either have to map it yourself manually or sell it and purchase a newer controller model that does not have this problem such as Vestax Typhoon or VCI-400.

If your controller is not recognized by Mac OSX? try to read this "BLOG"
