Hi all...
I'm thinking of replacing some of my sound.
What do you think of these
(2) Yorkville LS801PB
http://www.proaudiostar.com/yorkville-ls801pb-powered-subwoofer-formerly-ls800p.html
(2) QSC KW112
http://www.proaudiostar.com/qsc-kw122.html
With one of these
DBX Driverack PX
http://www.proaudiostar.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=driverack+px
I think this system should suffice for most shows. Anyone have experience with this gear? I have heard all of it but never used it personally.

@DJ City
Both of these units are great. The yorkville bottoms are awesome. However I must say they are a little on the heavy side. The K12 are great for most small to mid size parties. I have both and like the sound they both produce. I use the K12 for smaller events and use the yorkvile 500p for larger events. However, I just recently check out the new EV live x series and they sound great as well.
In regards to the driverack you probally better of upgrading to the driverack PA plus. This has more feature and flexiblity that the regular PX. Just keep in mind that you will have to use the custom set up when it comes to tunning your speakers because neither the QSC k12 or The yorkville bottom is listed in the pre listing.

Im also looking at the JBL PRX615's .They sound amazing! HEARD them side by side with the QSC and Mackies 450V2.

QSC's are off my list.
They have been replaced by....
ElelctroVoice EV ELX115P
http://www.pssl.com/EV-ELX115P-15-2-Way-Powered-Speaker-Live-X-
They sound way better than the QSC's and are lighter in weight and less expensive.
Oh Yeaaaaah.
(Thanks DJ Angel S)

@ City. Let me know how you like them when you get them. Also looking at the back and there are 3 volume controls. where would you run the levels for the master and line input? Ive been using mackie srm 450's for over 7 years and they only have one level control.
Oh and I have the driverack px. its pretty nice, but is a pain to setup in a place if there are customers in there. annoying pink noise. Good thing is you can save your setting for different venues.

The Live X has an active mixer. you can run more than 1 signal at a time and have a volume control for each signal.
I own a DBX Driverack PA and I have to say thai it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have decided to keep the Driverack PA for use with the powered speakers. The Driverack PA has more features and is more versatile. Neither the PA or the PX have my speakers in their list so I might as well use what I have and keep the additional features.

What exactly is a Driverack?......What are the specific components needed to hookup say a couple loudspeakers and a couple bottoms say 15's?......and in what order going from the laptop do things hookup?
Inviato Fri 23 Dec 11 @ 3:25 am
Driverack is a Loudspeaker Management Unit (LMU) and it consists of the following elements (based on model):
1) 3 way crossover with parametric EQ on each way (the EQ is applied on the input of each way)
2) Adjustable delay on each way (useful on large systems to delay the satellites so that the subs can keep up)
3) Compressor / Limiter on each way (Imagine this as a Multi-Band compressor even if that's not exactly accurate)
4) Graphical EQ and Compressor/Limiter on the INPUT signal
5) Sub Harmonics synthesizer/generator
6) Feedback suppressor

I don't have a driverack because I would be constantly adjusting it and wondering if it was right, DSP in new Crown amps is bad enough!
Inviato Fri 23 Dec 11 @ 4:33 am
Wow!...Thanks for all of the advice Phantom DJ....Just what I was looking for and very easy to understand...Thanks a ton!!! =D

Once you assign your speaker frequencies in the DR there is no need to adjust anything.
I do not run the pink noise eq feature, never have had to.
I use all Yorkville gear and have settings for the two combinations I use with them.
When just using my NX 750 tops (2 or 4) I run with full range setting.
When running my powered tops and passive bottoms, there is a setting created for frequency crossover and specific assignment.
The tops already have a roll off, but with the DR its all controlled and not necessary.
Inviato Fri 23 Dec 11 @ 4:56 am
There is no need to adjust anything, if you have your driverack & speakers with the same company manufacturer as everything of their speaker models are already built-in the driverack like: For example if you have DBX or BSS Driverack most of their JBL speakers setting are already in there you just have to choose & select speaker models for high, mids, lows, or even run settings in auto mode.
Inviato Fri 23 Dec 11 @ 4:25 pm
I have an older model, the newer DR has powered speaker profiles in the presets.
Its still a simple matter of goggling the specs for the speakers and setting them up.
Since I got this only once have I run without it, it was that remarkable.
