Hi guys. If you have massive hard drives obviously having all your video's as VOBs would be ideal, however due to the vast amount of tracks us digital DJ's are expected to have these days it's not really viable. So was wondering what video format compression you use?

I have a problem with certain mpegs. they play ok in WMP but wont play in VDJ???

It just says Error when I try to play .mpg (MPEG4) files in Virtual DJ. They play in windows fine. I had to install a codec on win XP to get them to work, but the codec I have won't install under win 7 (it's one of those you have to right click on then go to "install" in WinXP, but win 7 doesn't have that option?

Im going to re-encode the ones that don't work so wondered is .MP4 the best compression method to use and what software do you use to convert the video's ?

Thanks.

http://www.divx.com/

try it, I love it. very mature application, encodes to .divx format which is .avi (just change the ext)
I've used divx for years and for many different reasons. great quality videos at a smaller file size.
I'm in the planning stages of converting all my vob files to avi also.
I hope to have a better ability to adjust audio quality in some of these files once finished.
I also use the divx codec to record video sets with VDJ. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=2378237981769
Plus divx plays nicely on most all devices.
If you find something cool, please share with us.
Good luck,
T

I use MPEG Streamclip: video converter for Mac & Windows ( http://www.squared5.com/m ) to convert my vob files into MP4 (h264).

For me mp4 workes as best.

I use different files.

MKV
VOB
FLV
M2V
AVI

Mpeg sometimes works, sometimes don't (just like te story above) in the begining they have worked, but now on error
it's possible that i don't have the right codec.

so i try to convert them to Dvix on the link above)

I use Videotoolz as my record pool and everything (videos) I download is in MP4 format...and they all seem to load pretty fast and work well.

I've been converting Promo Only vids to MP4 with Leawo dvd to mp4 converter. It works fast and gets great results to boot. I tried Handbrake before but that took way too long to convert. Shoot me a message if you wanna know more.

All I have is DAT files. The problem is, the music quality will drop very low when VOCAL effect is selected. It use to eliminate the voice.
