Like they said no firm release date yet but possibly toward the end of 2012 - try to get it out in time for all the holiday shoppers like they did with Win7
By all accounts it will be less resource sensitive than win7 so combine that with the increase in computing power that will happen between now and then and things would fly on the new OS

I watched the presentation of Window 8. Not much innovation as far as new is really there. It looks more like a clone copy of Mac Snow leopard with different color fonts and logo. Even the presentation approach looks more like Mac presentation styles.
I think at one point in the near future, there may not be big differences between Windows and OS X specially now Steve Is gone.

VDJ works fine on it.
I'm not sold on Metro on the desktop though and I find having to drop back to the desktop makes the whole thing clunky.
It didn't make me think of OSX at all though?

Metro style home screen is introduced mainly for tablets, but it is nice addition for Media center when you use big LCD in your living room like I do.

....and you can disable it I believe.
It just feels clunky to me at present that's all.

With hardware requirements dropping, and hardware specs increasing win7 should be the last generation of distinct windows products on different devices. Since Win8 supports ARM architecture cpus there is no longer a need for different code-bases for tablets, pc, phone, etc just make the kernel smart enough to recognize the available hardware and enable/disable sections of the OS based on the device.

The Windows 8 Developer Preview works great on the same hardware that powers Windows Vista and Windows 7:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch
To run Metro style Apps, you need a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or greater

As an everyday MAC and Windows user I disagree with this statement. I think WIN 8 is still more like Win7 than OSX. Metro is the main big thing with WIN 8.
