Topic: Virtual DJ Similar to Mixmeister?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi folks,

Looking for someone who is familiar with both VDJ & Mixmeister Fusion (or even express).

Before I get flamed, I used MM primarily as a wedding DJ. I love the ability to be able to go far ahead in the mix and perfect it during downtime (speeches, cocktails etc.) so that I can entertain the crowd as my mix goes live. I am not really interested in beatmixing live anymore as using MM really allowed me to refine my service.

Checking out CDJ now as Ive upgraded to the new mbp retina - which numark has not updated Mixmeister to be able to work with. They also seem to no longer be supporting it.

Im not out at the club every weekend...I just need something with a playlist style interface as I do a lot of crowd engagement activity as a specialty. MM allowed me to do that and essentially my question is would VDJ have a feature like that? Ive read that there is a playlist ability, but Im curious how customizable it is...Ive downloaded the VDJ Home version & haven't gotten too far with it. I assume this is available in the Pro FULL version - which is fine I can fork out the cash if its what I am looking for. I haven't found much on youtube for version 7 playlist mixing to see it in action, which is why Im bringing the question here..

Thanks in advance.

VDJ has an automix feature which works decent but it is far more better for live mixing IMHO.
The far best playlist and automix (not beatmix) feature, I ever used, has OTSAV / OTSDJ.
It manages the volume and playes the tracks seamlessly after each other in a way, I never managed to do in VDJ.

Just my 2 cents.

Virtual DJ does have a sync feature, but nothing like Mixmeister's auto-mixing capabilities.

However, if you look at the preview videos of Virtual DJ v 8, it looks like it shares some functionality in the way you can make edits, tweaks and presets to your music. I remember reading somewhere (perhaps on these forums) that Atomix may have licensed some of the tech from MixMeister. Don't know if that's true or not, but it sure does look similar (and AWESOME, btw).

Bottom line, IMHO, Virtual DJ is the best tool for live mixing. I see MixMeister as more of a pre-production tool or DAW (that's not how it's marketed, but that's where it shines).

You can go through and set "Mix In/Out" points for your tracks. It'd be a long process but I think in the end it might be worth it to you. I'd say try it and see if it's gonna work for you.
