Topic: Problem with changing the key with POI-Editor

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I have a Song in key A that I want to play always key G
(Without re-record it)

In VDJ8 I set a POI on cue 1 with the action "set_key G" and it works!
I start at cue 1 and the song plays in G!
BUT
If I jump in the song by cue 2 the original key does´nt change and it´s still in key A

Is there a way to write a keychange globally for one song?
Thanx for any help

If it's only for this particular song, I suggest creating more POIs for your other HotCUE Points with the same action like HotCue1.
So it doesn't matter if you start the track with HotCue 1 or 2 or X.

If you want a song to be played always with a same (not default) key, change it in the tag editor ;-)

I thought about that too, but will it really change the key? Or will it just display G instead of A?

Thank You both

PachN: It´s not just this song, otherwise Your hint would be enough.
RobRoy: The Tags don´t change the real key. They just show something You write in there.

Any Ideas?

Can you set it as a marker instead of a cue?

The best solution really would be to rerecord in the desired key.

Perhaps I really have to re-record the songs.
Or what about the ".vdjedit"-files from VDJ8?
Each song has one of this files, why not put there an entry "transpose -2"?
If I want to use the song in the original key, I could reset it to "transpose 0" again.

I don't think vdjedits help any,
For one I don't think they can change key from the editor so your options are multiple action poi or rerecord.

So, I tested this out.
I saved a copy of "You Won't See Mee" by The Beatles as an edit, with "key change" as the remix tag
I then added an action marker at the begining that changes the key up one. Loading the song, it has the regular key until it hits the market, then it goes up one.

Now, I have my settings so that key resets on new song load. If you do not, you may want to add a marker at the end resetting the key.

Hello BlckJck

The action "key+1" as a cue is a bit dangerous, because maybe it increases (if You do a loop...)
The Problem is, that the change of a song-key by cues does´nt change the global key of the song.
So if You set a keychange at the start of the song and You jump into it by cue 3 - the desired key isn´t there.
So without a global keymark (not just as a tag) there is no useful keychange of a entire song.

by the way: the "resetkeyonload" if set to "no" shifts each(!) new loaded song with the last executed shift of a deck.
If You play a Bb-Trumpet maybe You don´t want to transpose Your Playing.
You can set "-2" and every song will be shifted down for 2 semitones.
But I think, just a very few users will appreciate this function.

Any other use for this?

As stated above, it looks like the best option is just to rerecord it. I was just trying to give a work around without rerecord inc it as asked. Personally, I would want two copies and not accidentally play the original in the wrong key.

Because I occasionaly do karaoke, and people request a key change, I mapped buttons on my controller to change the key, and the key resets on load. I don't have an issue doing it manually.

OK, I will re-record them and keep the original.
Thank You all
