Hi,
for virtual devices I am able to use IN/OUT types and IN only. A device which has MIDI Out only is not shown i n VDJ controller list. Is that true? Is that possible to use it anyway?
I identify currently the virtual device by "drivername" because no vid or pid is available. Also no SysEx. Is it possible by a devicepath as well?
Fot the the virtual MIDI out I got:
MIDI Device Identifying: \\?\bomebus#bomemidi#1&1a590e2c&1&02#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\bomemidi (in:-1 out:1)
MIDI Device Not Identified: \\?\bomebus#bomemidi#1&1a590e2c&1&02#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\bomemidi
Thank you for help.
Sascha

If the device only has an output, how would VDJ get the signal to it?
VDJ sends MIDI out, so the device needs an input to receive it.

You can add identifier="#bomemidi#" in this case.
Using identifier= still requires you to supply a vid/pid, but it can be a fake one (as long as it's unique)
So something like identifier="#bomemidi#" vid="1" pid="1234" for example.

That was not good descriped by me. I talk about IN/OUT in view of VDJ. Meaning the virtual device has an input and is able to receive samething like (stupid example) e.g. "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" the Windows build in audio device.
So so I like VDJ to open this device (MIDI OUT) to send in my case LED on/off information to it. And you are right, VDJ will never receive any signal from the device. E.g. an answer from SysEx message, because there is no corresponding MIDI input.

With the identifying lines shown like you did it should show up if you use a definition file with the lines as I explained in my previous posts, even if it is only midi out and not midi in.

unfortunately there are more than 1 (in bome midi translator up to 4) which are named the same:
here are my 2:
MIDI Device Identifying: \\?\bomebus#bomemidi#1&1a590e2c&1&02#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\bomemidi (in:-1 out:1)

MIDI Device Identifying: \\?\bomebus#bomemidi#1&1a590e2c&1&04#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\bomemidi (in:-1 out:2)

so the identifier can not be used only, I guess?

Should be no problem, then they should show up twice, both using the same definition.
You can then create a different mapping for both if you want (or set one to ignore to not use it in vdj)

The result with same names is a bit confusing, but ones it work, VDJ use it in the right way.
Thank you a lot.
