VDJ is very useful for dance studios or personal use for locating your music or videos and then just simply load a file to one deck and play, cue etc. There's no need for the second deck, it just confuses new users with similar needs. There's no need for mixing, beat syncing etc. But most of the other features are very useful.
My wishes:
- Add a single deck skin, available for all users when the program is downloaded. All load actions etc. shall use that single deck.
- Add a single deck license option, much cheaper than the infinity licens for professional use, perhaps 50$ or less, or even free due to the very basic use of only one deck
- Include option to remove or change video logo when using the single deck skin or license
- Use of hardware controllers can be included, can be nice to use hardware buttons and the wheel for "scrolling" in tracks/videos etc.
I think this would increase the number of such users since a single deck skin/version will be much easier to use for those not interested in mixing tracks. A cheaper license option for this purpose will attract such users to pay for this, the current pro license for mixing is way too expensive.
Thank you!

Take a Piece of paper, cut it in half, stick it to the right side of your screen...
There you go. A single deck skin which is not confusing you by showing the second deck...

Sure, but there's more to it. Using the available screen area and also simplifying for users that that only need one deck. Took a while to understand what happened when tracks are loaded and how to avoid confusion regarding which deck that is used. I've defined a key that always loads to deck 1 but using a skin for single deck should have saved me much trouble. I imagine that there are users with similar needs that would give up and regard the software as too complicated to use. There are many nice features that can be used with only one deck so please make it simpler for users to use the software in that way.

You're basically asking for the full pro but with a single deck for $50 or less.
If you want to use a controller then you need a plus or pro license.
If you want to remove the video logo then you need a pro license.
If you want to use it for commercial purposes then you need a pro license.
If you want a single deck skin then you can make one, request one in the skins forum or pay someone to make you one. This is primarily a DJ software and to the vast majority of users a single deck skin would be useless. Far better for it to be a downloadable addon for those who might want that limited use.
If the $299 is more than you can afford but you need a pro license then we have a $19 monthly subscription option.

"This is primarily a DJ software and to the vast majority of users a single deck skin would be useless."
This must not be the case in the future. Things don't always have to remain as they've always been. I'm not asking you or other professional users to consider a one deck skin. My suggestion is by no means a threat to you but it can be great opportunity for many other users and also for the producers of the software.
I think that there are or could be quite a few users of a single deck version, willing to pay a license cost for that, provided that it's a lot cheaper. Not for professional use.

Well, if you just need to play one track at a time then why not use Windows Media Player, Winamp, VLC or similar? They don't cost anything and they don't have two decks.
It seems to me that you're looking at the wrong software. Any DJ software designed to be used live will always have at least two decks.

You could buy the software and use the jukebox skin.

Because VDJ does a better job for me than any other software I've found so far, including those you mentioned. Despite the superflous second deck.

"You could buy the software and use the jukebox skin."
I could but I think that the cost is too high for my needs, considering that I'm using it at home and only using one deck.
The jukebox skin doesn't satisfy my needs though. I want to have the waveform display, cue controls etc. But just one deck. And since I'm mostly using it for video, it would be nice to get rid of the logo without having to pay a fortune for that.
I seems strange that people are questioning my use of the software. In fact I know a lot of people using it in similar ways.
Actually the suggested $50 for a one deck version is not low, I found that there are plus versions for $49 for some controllers. I guess I could buy one, without even using the controller, if this works. Still, a plus version for "no controller", preferably with a one deck option, would be perfect for me (without the video logo).

Why would you need to get rid of the logo if you're only using it at home?
You keep mentioning price, but the home version is free.
You say that VDJ "does a better job" - at what? If you're only playing one track at a time, not mixing/syncing etc. then what is it doing a better job at?
By the way, some of the iPad remote skins have one deck and are usable in the main VDJ software. Have you looked there?

"Why would you need to get rid of the logo if you're only using it at home?"
Because I'm using it to play videos, looping certain sections etc. (I'm a dancer, using free videos from YouTube for that purpose).
The logo is disturbing. I can live with it but it would be nice to get rid of it without having to pay $299,
"You keep mentioning price, but the home version is free. "
I know. But it has the same problem. No one deck skin. And you can't use full screen video display with the home version. The video display is also too laggy for my needs.

I'm mostly playing videos, sometimes audio tracks. I either play a longer part of the video or stepping through parts, going back, cue/loop certain parts. Nice to be able to step backward or forward using beats. Sometimes changing the pitch. The hot cues are also nice since they are saved in the database for each track. Also like the filter folders, search functionality etc. VDJ is simply the best software I've found so far for my needs, especially the video part. Most other player have problems getting out of sync with audio, lagging etc. when stepping back or forth. Not using any mixing functionality, not using the functionality in the sidelist. Using folders/virtual/filter instead of playlists. Not using any audio or video effects. Using Mac.
"By the way, some of the iPad remote skins have one deck and are usable in the main VDJ software. Have you looked there?"
No not yet. I still want to be able to use a rather large screen for the main window/browser. Using a tv as a second screen for the video.

Only the pro version will remove the video logo. It's always been the case and is unlikely to change. Even the plus versions don't remove it and some of those cost a lot more than $50.
If you are just using it at home for dancing then you won't be using a controller - the free version will be fine for you. The onscreen logo shouldn't really impact you for this purpose.

Is the video logo related to the ability to create/edit videos?
In that case it would be nice for home users to have a setting that disables save in the video editor and at the same time removes the video logo. Or completely disables the video editor when the video logo is disabled for non pro users.

The video logo is unrelated to the video editor, which works for all users.
The video logo is always there for non pro users.

Yes I know that the video logo is always there for non pro users. I just wonder why. It would be logical to be able to remove the video logo if certain "pro features" are disabled that motivates not being able to remove the logo.

It's a form of watermark (security). Many video software programs do the same thing. When the software is purchased, the logo goes away.
People using VDJ professionally usually wish to display their own logo or none at all (because the display is being used in public).
At home it does not matter if the logo is present.
If you're ripping videos from YouTube and re-recording them, it's highly likely that some of those would also have logos on for similar reasons.
