Just curiosity on my part,
I've been on the look out for more dials in an auxiliary controller.
A mate of mine lent me his novation nocturn, (yet to figure out getting netframework 3.5 on my machine to run the assbackwards proprietary to midi)
Anywho, encoders are cool but im pondering buying a couple of launchcontrols (at a very reasonable price) and cracking out the soldering iron to switch the pots to endless pots.

So the question is, can V8 interrupt absolute dial positions to relative SW control?

VirtualDj has nothing to do with physical pots/encoders.
It only interpets MIDI messages.
So, if you switch fader knobs with endless encoders you'll also have to
1) tamper the device board to understand that the replaced knobs are actually encoders (different way of handling voltage/resistance and data)
and optionally
2) tamper the device firmware to send relative movements instead of absolut.

VirtualDj IS capable to understand encoders that send messages from 00 up to 7F (fullencoder element). However you'll have to redifine the entire controller definition in order to overide the default behavior that expects a fader knob (defined as slider) instead of a full encoder

Not switching from pots to encoders, switching from pots to endless pots. But your answer still covers what I need thanks.
