I've been trying different things to try and make the level about the same on all decks that I use and I'm not really to successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I am not using any external controller.

I adjust my mp3 to the same general gain level (96db) using MP3Gain - this should however not really be necessary for use in VDJ
I then use "auto" for auto gain setting - not "remember", because I may adjust the gain manually on a track once in a while for effect while mixing

Exactly the same as me.
I play mostly videos at my gigs now which can't be ran through MP£Gain, but the inbulit VDJ autogain set to "auto" works perfectly.
