Is there any way I can see which files I have opted to have removed from the search DB? Is there a specific tag in the database xml file I can look for, for example?

Set up a filter folder exists=0

Tried that,

It only shows files that are missing (no file location)

Files that I have manually removed from the search DB don't appear in the filter

guessing here but if you remove a file from search db then you've just removed the xml entry from database.xml.

Therefore it's not there to be seen as not searchable.

So you're going to have to do it in stages.

copy your database.xml file
Go into vdj with all your externals attached, recurse My computer.
Use my library plugin to see all the files that are either not scanned or ones first seen that day.
Make a note of any music that you have removed from search.
Close vdj delete the current database.xml, rename the copied xml.
Reopen vdj, Find your tracks you made a note of within the folders.

Depends on what you want to do and how many tracks you need to find, it may just be easier keeping the full recursed database and then removing the system files & what have you from the search db, whichever way is less work.

I suppose you could have a text comparison program check recursed db to copied db.

There's a few ways to skin this cat.

Create a filter folder, set scope to "database" and enter this query:
In SearchDB = 0
