Another program that does great shaders https://www.plane9.com/
I have not tried it yet, someone that have used it?

it's a halted project with only 250 shaders, agreed that some look good. but breath not held.
I stumbled across this site a while back https://www.vertexshaderart.com and it appears wholly focused on shaders for music, but still open sauce.
[shadertoy obviously has a larger range but unfocused and has a lot of stuff which is "shader writing for shader writers" ]
I just can't figure how to port the vertexID that this site uses into shadertoy

They are different kinds of shaders - you can't turn one into the other. Shadertoy uses pixel/fragment shaders, whereas vertexshaderart uses vertex shaders (as the name implies).

figured as much just wasn't 100% sure

I did look around the files installed with the Plane 9 program, and found that the p9c 'scene files' are just two JPGs and some XML - which looks rather similar to the code on shadertoy.
Not a simple cut and past job though, unfortunately.
I also discovered some shaders in my 32 bit plugins folder that I don't have in the 64 bit one, and they're not on shadertoy any more, so I can't go back and reconvert them. :-(

Its bad that we have stucked with shadertoy then..
Would be nice if VDJ could read other shaderfiles like it does for music and videofiles.

Update: I've just been going through my 32 bit shaders and redownloading the ones I can.
The shaders I don't have as 64 bit, that I cannot redownload as they've not on the site any more, are:
m4-mind-0-m4x 4dyfW1
Chromo Inferno 4s2GRK
solar-vixzion-sporx 4sVfWh
mandala thing ldt3R7
pixelated XstBDj
Does anyone have any of those as 64 bit conversions?

This one doesn't work well for me in VDJ
https://www.shadertoy.com/view/WtcfDf | view on shadertoy | copy link
Looks a lot "dirtier" (pixelated) in VDJ
