I updated to virtual dj 21 ,now virtual dj can't open my hard drive

Should be no difference there (seeing you are on Windows, on Mac there could be permissions set)
Did you change computer also perhaps, and not having read permissions or access to external drive or something like that?
What happens when you try open drive, and why do you think VDJ has no access?
