I'm thinking of purchasing DDJ1000...
i have a 2011 MBP 17 inch.
2.4 ghz intel core i7
8 gb rams 1333mhz ddr3.

do i need a new MB or can i still run the 2011?

I'm looking at 4 Chanel mixers, any other controllers i should look at, let me know...

cheers

Your new controller won't change anything.

I guess it depends if you want to use stems, they struggle on older hardware.

Should be ok to connect a controller.
And you can always get controller first, and if things are too slow, upgrade computer after

Its a 10 years old computer, so might be time ;-)

Apple M1 Chip with 8‑Core CPU and 8‑Core GPU
256GB storage
this one is 2k AU bucks

or

2.0GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core Processor with Intel Iris Plus Graphics
512GB storage
3k

Touch choice, both are nice ..hehe

If it was me, I'd go for the M1 processor.. a bit more "future proof" since mac is changing to M1
(and reviews for the M1 been great, performance wise.. )

As much as I dislike MacOS you can't deny the M1 air is a very powerful machine for the money.

The question is always what I want, clearly that the hardware from 10 years ago does not have the same performance as the current one. But if it works and you are satisfied ...

The current version VDJ runs on all my computers without any problems!

1.) MacBook pro (2008) 4GB RAM 256 SSD and 2TB HDD
2.) ASUS (2008) intel dual core 4GB Ram 256SSd and 2 TB HDD3
3.) Fujitsu LifeBook (2011) Intel i5 8 GB Ran 256 GB SSD 1 TB HDD
4.) AMD FX (tm) -6300 Six-Core (2016)
16 GB Ram 4 TB HDD GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
5.) the newest :) Mac Book Pro 2019 Intel i9 32 GB Ram 2 TB SSD

The question is always what I want!
All systems are running and I would have a life gig with everyone at any time.
But I also maintain my hardware.
Only software that I really need and maintenance every 6 months - means screwing it on, cleaning the fan and everything else.
never had a crash in live operation.
