Hi
I have an issue where some tracks are not appearing in Virtual DJ. It is partly my fault as sometimes I get a newer or extended version of a song & rather than create a new file and start from scratch in my playlist, i normally use Virtual DJ to rename the 'old' file to be the same name as the 'new & improved file' then overwrite it.
i.e. when i get an extended version of a song
"Kylie Minogue ft Years & Years - A Second To Midnight (HD).mp4" gets renamed to
"Kylie Minogue ft Years & Years - A Second To Midnight (Extended Edit) (HD).mp4"
Then i copy the new (Extended Edit) file over the old one to replace it on my drive.
This way, Virtual DJ will think it is the same file and I will get it appear in recent played & in my file history etc. Virtual DJ renames it and corrects all my playlists so that is great.
However occasionally during a backup sync I have mistakenly copied the some of the old files back on to my computer so that there are both versions present on the drive, this in itself is not a problem except that Virtual DJ will not see the old version of the file with the original filename when searching or even when browsing a folder, it totally ignores it as if it is not on the hard drive.
Both files are in the database as listed below.
<Song FilePath="O:\Chart\Kylie Minogue ft Years & Years - A Second To Midnight (HD).mp4" FileSize="48877901">

</Song>
Virtual DJ only lists the (Extended Edit) version of the song even when browsing a folder.
It is not a massive problem because I can use other methods to weed out any duplicate files however I just wondered if anyone knew why this was happening. The file is on the drive, I have right clicked the drive and selected "Batch/Add to Search DB" and both files are in the database but only the newer one shows up.
Thanks anyway

Hi
Is anybody able to help with this issue, I have since found out that Virtual DJ is completely ignoring some files in my database and will not show them in even when browsing the folder they are in.
I have no idea how many files are doing this as there is no way to find out, however here is an example of a file I knew I had on the hard drive (by checking in File Explorer) but Virtual DJ wouldn't show.
It appears twice in the database, the second occurrence is the correct one as I had moved the file at some point.

Does anyone know why this file doesn't appear in search or when browsing. I have manually removed these entries from the database and then when I "Add to Search DB" it finds it and everything is OK but I don't know what other files may not appear that are on my drive so would love to find the cause so I can check my DB file properly.
Thanks

HI
Having had a good look at my database and some files do not have a "flag" entry within the <song> item, it appears Virtual DJ will not show these files under any circumstances.
I recently upgraded my PC and did a database backup from the old laptop and restored it onto my new one thinking this was the correct thing to do, during this process, a whole bunch of music videos (100s) were added to the database without the "flag" entry and do not show up on my new laptop. I corrected the problem by simply copying over the database.xml from my old laptop (as the music was in the same location) on my new laptop, however I thought you should be aware of this.
This only seems to affect videos, as I have mp3 with not "flag" entry that Virtual DJ shows no problem
