When I use virtual with no controller, wave forms are big. Using sx3 it shrinks them way down and small. They are high quality files

Make sure you use autoGain, and dont touch the gains unless it's a rare occation where yhe autogain is not correct
If you then find the system is generally "running hot" (it happens with some hardware/controllers) lower the zeroDB setting
