I know the VDJ setup for this says that the mic can't be recorded in midi mode but does anyone know if there is a possible work around for this?

Easiest way would be to just plug a USB in and record directly on the RX3.
I have an RX2 and love that i can record my sets this way without having to put an extra load on my laptop.

Native record on the XDJ-RX series records everything that comes out of the master, so to answer your question - yes.
