Topic: Remove duplicates quickly
I have a big problem with duplicate files.
I searched for a solution in the forum but I couldn't solve it.
All my folders are with the "no duplicates" option
I tried dragging the playlist to the sidebar and selecting "remove duplicates"
I tried exporting the entire playlist to mp3 files to have all the files in the same folder, I created a new playlist with the "no duplicates" option
Despite all these tests, I continue to be full of duplicates, the same song with identical duration, title, bpm, key etc etc present in my playlists
This seems like a nightmare, I can't solve it, I've heard of scripts but I have no idea what they are, how they work and who can provide them to me.
Removing each duplicate one by one step by step seems crazy to me when you have many files, I would like to be helped, thanks.

Just trying to understand the problem here:

Given you don't actually have duplicate songs on your music drives themselves, VirtualDJ doesn't create duplicates in lists without explicitly being told to do so

  • A filter folder generates a list of songs from a condition - there could only be duplicates if you added duplicate files from your music sources to your collection/search DB
  • A regular list allows for a song to be added and shown multiple times but the user has to explicitly do that

While there may be solutions to hide the duplicates problems, isn't it better to tackle the problem from the source (remove any duplicates from your music sources/collection, only add one instance of a song to a list)?

Taking the time to rebuild your library would be the best option.

Make a backup in vdj, restore from that backup,
the backup process has some cleaning parts to it, it might sort your problem.
