I've seen around the forum that that you do not need to use a second soundcard to mix through a headphone..
I've heard about USB devices (Telex) that provide basically the same function. If i were to use on of these would i need an external mixeras well.
What are my options other than buying another soundcard to perform some professional mixing thru headphones on my own.

You need either a 3D soundcard (USB only for laptops) or a second card. And, very important, the full version. Then you can monitor with your headphones on one channel and listen to your mix on the other.

Or you use a Y-splitter on your soundcard, if you own the full version.
