Yes it's true my friend, initially I found it a help, now I find it a hinderance.

It would be best to be able to enable or disable it through an option, currentely their are only few skins that allow you the choice to "cover" the waveform, the trick is to try and make use out of them, but not to take it's accuracy as 100% true.

I've seen many DJ's who align them perfectly, but the beats are clearly out of sync, rather than the DJ use his common sense and make manual adjustment, he would rather believe that the waveforms are always 100% accurate.

:).

to frd1963..

It would be nice to see msPinky support in virtualDJ. The VDJ TCV is.. well. ahum.. rather basic and not really very good compared to msPinky..

I use msPinky vinyl with djDecks and it rocks big time.. no way VDJ comes close.. and I tried..

Other then that I think VDJ is a rather nice piece of software, just not my fav right now..

Bagpuss:
i know what your saying with the overlapping waves sometimes they are lined up perfect and still sound off, but that is only like 1 out of ten times, even if it didn't line up you can see where it needs to be to be matched, for me my monitor is almost behind me so i don't really use it, my main visual is watching the VDJ label on my TCV and headphone cue for sound.

Yeah that's my point, they give a 99% accuracy.., so shouldn't be dependend on, your own judgement is best!, that's why traditional monitoring is here to stay, plus it's more fun.

I too started in a club using the ole 12 hundreds and tape decks. That was back in '73. During the years of 71 and 72 I was an apprentice in a studio. I played in clubs and at weddings, anniversary's,bar mitzvahs, new years eve party's, office party's etc for the next 15 years. In 1988 i burned out after 52 club dates (2 a week from may to Oct) and 76 weddings and or party's, 16 of them in December alone.

I quit doing public gigs at that time but kept trying my skills on the tables and decks that I had.

Then came computers for the common man. I remember them tearing the roof off of a college to drop a main frame computer into a room. This computer was not as powerful as a pent 100.

When i found out about mp3s and all that neat stuff i started looking for software to mix with.
I found many many things to mix with but only one did what it said it would and thats atomixmp3.
Thats what i still use for home mixing and when i can afford it i will get VDJ.
Atomixmp3 has given myself and others in my social circle countless hours of fun. I look forward to using VDJ.

I started my DJ "career" when I was 14 with three busted up radios playing cassettes.( I still have a mix that I did)...and a DJ name of Jeff "The" Rector. Don't know what the Hell a "The Rector" is, but hey I was a dumb kid that LOVED music. OK you can stop laughing and start reading again. I then progressed to two 1200s, Gemini mixer and a reel to reel. I then took a "vacation" from mixing and then found a "special version" of Atomix 2.2. I used it for a while until VDJ hit the scene. Loved the way it looked and wanted to upgrade and be part of a revolution. I tried demos of Tracktor and PCDJ. Didn't like them much, VDJ is by far the best.

Guys when you chat with me...no laughing.

Don't feel funny maddsound,

I beggin in 1978 with another 5 friends from the last year of junior high. We begin with an open real tape deck to do the mixes (because it has one vol from left channel and one for the other) in monoural... haha (let me laugh with you!), and using turntables without pitch (garrad sounds familiar?) 2 of them... haha (more laugh!!)... well finally we could affort a mixer and ONE TT beltdrive... I learn to match a mix only with one source with pitch, do it well (I also have some tapes from the time)... after one year I feel senior and go for a job in a club (I was 16 but I look older at a time) I couldn't stay because a silly song (I don't like) but that was the one I was tested to match... I couldn't do it well and my carrier was finish there. I effort and realise to do good mixes and improve myself. The next year I was doing party's and in events mixing like a pro :-) ... since then I was in this, with every stuff in btw. (SL-1200, CDs, Cassette, VHS VCRs, LaserDisc, DVD...) in 2002 saw atomixmp3, nice "toy" and in 2003 download the VDJ demo... and finally buy VDJ and be very happy!
