Hey all you record diggers out there. I am looking for a song to play in a set this Friday night. I've searched everywhere online for it and had no luck. I'm not looking for to steal the file via an illegal p2p service or anything like that, so don't recommend that. I'm looking to buy a legal CD copy or another legal means of getting the song into VDJ so I can use it in my set. The song is:
Das EFX - They Want EFX (Remix)
I am not looking for the version that is on their first album. That is not the remix. The version I am looking for, I think, is on here:

I've looked everywhere. The vinyl copy seems to be everywhere, for as low as $6.95 I've found. I haven't been able to find a single CD copy or even the catalog number for it. This leads me to think that this was never released on CD by the label. I could buy the vinyl copy and a turntable and rip it myself but this seems a bit extreme for one song.

I could not listen to that link, because Real Player sez I am not the admin of my computer. I am sure I have that somewhere, but don't even know where to look. It would take me a week, to find it on vinyl. I have not used vinyl since 90'. However, I do have a Wicked Mix remix, but could not compare the two. There must be a reason I only have one version, on my computer. It must be pretty close to the original rmx. I will try again to install Real tomorrow.

Check the laws about using remixes. Here in Canada as long as you already own the original of a song and paid the dues you can play any remixes from that artist. But as Norway said you can find it on a few CDs already available.

Wow. Actually haven't heard that tune in a while.
I do have it on 12" vinyl, maybe I'll rip it if I get time to dig through my vinyl collection to find it.

That's pretty funny that this song is on MTV Party To Go Volume 4. I looked through my stack of about 150 JUNK CDs that I would never play, and that disk is in there. The reason I have ALL the MTV disks in there is because they are "MIXED" CDs. I hate these. That's why they go straight to the junk pile.
In this case though, I pulled out the CD and ripped it. If I can't get the unmixed version, then I'll have to settle for the mixed MTV version. Thanks for all the tips though everyone.

Not sure about your law, but there is some truth to what White Devil says...
if you own the song on a MTV party cd, you can download the single song file of some p2p program, and it would be legal for you to own and play it..
