i've been having a problem with vdj and tcv for at least 6 months now...
the right deck runs pretty much on point, the tcv quality shows strong, the songs play and scratch fine. the left deck on the other hand, works less than half the the time with tcv. regardless if the quality signal shows strong it reads anywhere 40-70% on average. sometimes it'll work fine for a few songs and then start to get all warped and garbled sounding, sometimes its warped from the get. i have tested it out on about 6 different setups (including various brands/models of turntables, mixers, needles, and cables). this only happens when using tcv, if i mix onscreen with just the software then it all works fine.
this has been occuring with vdj versions 3.2, 3.3, and now 3.4
i own both a maya 44 and the esi u46dj and both yield the same results.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled vdj multiple times and i have even wiped the computer and reinstalled the os as well.
my laptop:
compaq presario 2100 w/ xp professional sp2
amd mobile athlon xp2500+ 1.86ghz
gig of ram
over 10 gigs of free hd space
i am extremely exhausted with this issue, i have swaped out every variable numerous times and nothing solves the problem. has anyone else experienced some sort of issues similar to this? any suggestions from the support team? at this point i can only assume that there is some sort of bug where vdj doesn't like my system for some reason. i'm at a loss here.

when its warped and garbled does it return to normal if you minimize and max again?? or on a restart?

generally no...like i said it might play a handful of songs ok (not great but ok) on the right side but then it gets garbled...

TT's grounded to the computer? Have you tried the right deck cables on the left and vice versa? some folks have had cable problems? What latency do you have in asio configuration? Are you sure the cables for the left deck are all the way plugged into the maya? I find the maya connection needs a real good push to get the cable solidly into it....even though it seems like its in.

yeah i've tried multiple cables...tt's grounded to the mixer and/or u46dj. i have the maya44 and u46dj and i've been dealing with this for 6 months so i've tried every obvious/logical troubleshooting idea. i've tried various different asio latency settings, since getting the u46dj i've keep it in the middle basically, right now its at 512. i have also tried with the esi asio and with asio4all, basically no difference.

This might be too obvious, but is the tone arm properly balanced? I had a similar problem, and after doing all sorts of technical fixes, it turned out to be just the tone arm. If there's not enough pressure on the needle, you will get a reduced signal.

right i dig...i've tried this out on about 6 pairs of deck...i can't imagine that i would have made this mistake with 12 different turntables...

i noticed in your post that you said the tt's are grounded to the mixer/soundcard. they are supposed to be grounded to the computer not like you typically do to the mixer with regular vinyl. attach the ground to a screw in the computer near some metal. i'm guessing you've tried different cartridges as well so a bad styli is out of the question. it sounds like you have tried everything i would try, sorry wish i had something else for you.

I had a simular problem, with my right deck. After messing around with it for a long time,
I discovered that if I had the sync. button on my Virtual DJ, for that particular deck ,it would do what you described. As soon as I disabled it, problem solved. I guess it depends on what skin you're using. Not
all the skins have that sync. button. The one I was using did. Good luck.

Yo, try using a ground plug for your laptop. You know one of those three prong to two prong converter things in radio shack. I had the same issue until a sound engineer buddy told me to try that. I did & no more garbled noises or funny sounds. This happened to me when I had too much plugged into one socket or power strip. You do not have to ground tt's to computer as long as you computer is grounded itself, atleast that worked for me. Good Luck

so is it allways deck '2' in VDJ? no matter what you do. what happens when you plug the right tt into the left input and vica versa? VDJ tends to play garbled when its not getting a good signal. the 4 cables going from my cart to my headshel sometimes come loose and i get grbled signal till i crimp them back on with the tool. also look out for dust balls getting stuck on the needle, this can fuck up the signal too. if whatever you do its allways deck nuber 2 in VDJ that has this then i would suggest that you have a software gremlin somewhere lol.
