Hi all,
I was just looking on the numark website (not looking at any of the computer based mixing products, honest!) and i noticed the CDN-90 under the cd/mp3 player section.
Just in the list of features it mentions midi in/out feature, which got me thinking...
does that mean i could use it to control VDJ!?
If it does, it would be like having a DAC-3, but it functions as a CD player if your laptop crashes!!!
I'd buy one if i knew i could make it work like that!
Anybody got any ideas or know if it would work?

if the buttons and jogs sent midi commands, it would work :)
not sure it does...
But there will be more and more hybrid hardware around, that works as real hardware AND as a software controller:)
Such as the Nuo4 mixer, and prob soon more and more decks etc too ...
And you always have timecode (cd and vinyl), that will make real hardware work as controller for vdj :)

I've read a manual few months ago, it's sending some midi events (mostly midi clock)
and it's able to receive commands, so you are able to "push the buttons"
but not to read them. At least when I tryed, but it's the matter of firmware, if they can modify it to actually also send the midi events when the buttons are pushed/released then it's cool.

Interesting stuff. I'm looking at buying a hardware controller soon but ideally would like it to have midi also. Does anyone else know of some that are on the market or that are about to be released?
