Topic: What's your favorite Skin

Mine is the tied with the TASCAM and Denon 5000. The denon is similar to the default skin, but the default one is corny and looks like toy. The tascam is a beatiful and really funtional skin, but the grey is dull . The WAVE meter and the song libray sections should be like the denon5000 skin.. which is very colorful. It would be nice if the author would make that one more colorful:)

A great Skin in my book is Apopsis Timecode Skin. It's got great functionality. I used it with TCCD first but now also use it with DAC-3. When using the DAC-3 a simple skin with good visibility and good display size is invaluable. I changed the font size in the browser to 17 just to be more easily read.

I also use the mixstation 05 too Very very well done skin.

I really like the VinylVideo skin styled after traktor, but so far I haven't found a "perfect" skin.

I want to modify or make my own skin because I have a very high resolution laptop (1920x1200). I want to make it a 4:3 skin though, so I have some space for foobar2000 on one side, which I still use as a backup, and for its excellent media library with the file search component.

Can you reverse engineer another skin to change minor things you don't like about it?

hi,
I didn't manage to resize the skin I wanted too!
vdj skin resizer says "there is an error 0 in the new skin..." (or something like this), but I don't know what this error is.
so, I leave this tool and I continue to use my favourite skin: "advanced default by cioce"...
and the second one is "mix station sv 04"

Mine is Vinyl Scratch by Deejay Ken, which I modified to be in 1280*800 for my laptop, I added some video controls, a preview window and changed a few buttons.
I would like to share this modifed skin with everybody but I didn't manage to contact Deejay ken to see if and how I could upload it.

I wrote a perl script that helps with resizing the skins, and then I just go into Photoshop and modify the graphics. It's nothing complex, it just looks for the areas where the buttons are, and adds so many pixels.

Kaymyst, I wouldn't mind seeing the mods you've made to DJ Ken's skin. I've been working on modding his VinylVideo skin, which is quite nice.

My favorite is the Pioneer CDJ-700S. It has tons of features with modifiable subsettings, including an extra wide crossfader for very smooth blends (although I use my external mixer for that now...) I also like that you can turn off the waveform if you want, for those who want to learn to mix without it, or who find it distracting (like myself)... And it just looks cool too. Try it out if you haven't yet...

The new VMix3 from Cyder has been a real favorite of mine for video. It features an enhanced veiw of the decks with an indicator for the hot deck to avoid a lot of confusion (on my part).

I have several favorites.
If you like a huge record case, the vmix skin by CStoll is great.
For video I prefer the vmix video skin by Cyder, the same one John mentioned.
The skins are kind of designed with the DAC's in mind, eliminating buttons and features that the DAC handles to make more room on the interface. There is also one by DJ Larry for the DAC 2.
Do consider a DAC if you beatmix, it's the cats meow.

It really comes down to RC size and font size. Some skins have larger fonts so for smaller monitors or aging eyes, that is a factor.
