Hey All... I just got a copy of FunkyMix 100, and on it there's a great 22 Minute long Hip-Hop megamix.
Something like this would be great to play in the club while you're warming up the room, before too many people come in. The problem I have is that I'm supposed to play all video (as much as possible). Most of the songs in the mix I do have videos for from the Promo DVDs. So I was thinking...
I think I'd like to try piecing together all the videos of the songs in this megamix to make a custom mixed video... but this would be a pretty daunting project, I think, for a 22 minute mix comprised of perhaps 30 songs or so. In any case, has anyone here done video work like this? What software would do the job for this kind of task?
Adobe Premiere maybe? I'm pretty new to video production, so any advice would be appreciated.

I have. Check my myspace. It's actually 1 hour long, and I used Vegas by Sony Media Software to piece it together.

Sony Vegas 6.0, works with video similar to the Acid audio programs as you can set it to open each video at the "project tempo, then all you gotta do is pick your mix spot, line up the wave forms, select your effects and transitions and you are good to go....be warned after doing all the editing and arranging to render a 30 minute video mix will take about 90 minutes depending on the speed of your computer.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I bring them into Acid first to turn the audio into "Acid Loops", then the tempos will match (and don't forget to timestretch the video so everything stays in sync)

@djderricke
Can you send pictures about how you strecht audio and video at the same time within vegas?

I forgot I needed to do that for you Manquin. Give me a couple of days and I'll have something ready for you. As far as how long a render will take, if you use a lot of transitions and fancy things it will make you render even longer. It took almost four hours to render that hour long video.

I think you just hold the CTRL or SHIFT key from memory and drag the tail end (bottom right) of the sound vid clip entry. The video will automatically match the adjustment in speed of the song and will maintain the same key/pitch.

You are right, but a while back a promised to do some screen shots to show how it's done.

Cool, I'll see if I can score a copy of Vegas and learn to use it. Sounds like fun.
DJ Derricke, I can't see your videos... it appears that they're not available. I'd love to watch them sometime.
Do you have good quality files that I'd be able to download and throw on, say, at the beginning of the night before I get going? Something like that would be sweet, and is the very reason I'm doing this project in the first place.

If you have something in mind, maybe I can make something custom for you. BTW, if you don't have RealPlayer loaded on your system, you will not be able to play the video. (It's not in MPG format) I might re-encode to DIVX and see how much space that takes up.

Ah, I wouldn't bother getting you to do something just for me. It'd be sweet to have a high quality DIVX to play though, if you wouldn't mind.
Anyways, this is something I oughta learn to do for myself. Just so many other bloody projects though... like the 800 new CDs I just bought that need to be ripped so I can play them in Virtual DJ!
I should seriously think about buying robotics to automate that task.

ok thanks derricke, do you know if there's a plugin to render in divx format from vegas directly?
