Is there such a connecter that is svideo male to RBG FEMALE (or to male + coupler)? If so, where can I get it?

svideo to component the answer is yes but only for 7 pin svideo
the 4pin svideo on the older video cards doesnt have the rgb information, but for the older cards just get a dvi to component adapter (depends on what outputs you have)

my laptop (dell XPS specs maxed out) does in fact have the newer svideo configuration. would I get better quality going svideo to component or dvi to component?

Same, they both have the same RGB information so either one will be fine, and both adapters can be found on ebay
