So, when I have ACPI I cannot change IRQ settings, since they are greyed out. What do I do then? Great guide though, didn't find it when I spent a couple of hours searching for some good info :)

have a look on the bios for what irq channels are being used you should be able to change it there
look on intergrated device menu or hardware menu or general menu as it tends to varry for each bios

Hey Sky I too have IRQ problems, but there is no changing them in BIOS or anywhere else. Is there a way to re-install XP in Standard mode or is that bad.

Hmm... the only solution seems to be to change the "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" to something else, some places say "Standard PC", my suggestion would be "MPS Multiprocessor PC", since it is dual core, and then make a repair installation of Windows XP, press F5 when asking for other SCSI or RAID drivers to load, by then you are able to choose "MPS Multiprocessor PC", but I haven't tried it yet, since I want to be sure it is the way things work to be able to change IRQ settings for my hardware.
By doing changes in BIOS seems not have any affect.
