This is probably a silly question, but how do I connect the midi out on the Pioneer DJM800 mixer to my PC? I have a 7.1 creative XFI audio card on the PC. Is there a special cable, or do I need to buy another piece of kit to link the two??

You need a cable from the mixer to your PC.
You can find user manual, guide and pictures here:

I've got the manual and mixer - and sort of know what the capabilities are.... The problem is, I don't know how the connect the midi socket on the DJM800 to the PC. Do I need a pci midi card or something? Or can I connect directly to the pc via usb or digital input on the soundcard?
I need BASIC advice as I'm a midi muppet!!! (although I'm a pretty mean mixer :) )

If your soundcard does not have a midi input, you can get a MIDI to USB adapter like this:
