Oh, I wanted to add that all these videos on a much weaker machine and much much weaker graphics
card all worked fine with 3.4.. I thought that having my settings at minimum like they are now equalled 3.4???
Oh, also, I do have Direct X updated through Dec. 2006 !

What is the video type? DivX, XviD, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, vob?

They say mpg on the extension?

This is a common problem with nVidia graphics cards with shared memory in laptops. To fix, go into Config -> Codecs and change the decoder to Windows Media Player Video Decoder for each of the video types you use (mpg, mpeg, avi, etc.) Then restart VDJ.

Great thanx, anything else I should do? Cstoll? Sky?

and the latest dvd codecs
and the latest dvd codecs

And how do install them(codecs) and where (folders?) into VDJ?

DivX isn't going to help you with the mpeg files. Just change your Config settings as jpboggis suggested and then go from there....
cstoll

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but just thort i'd mention it.
When i was setting up videos for my laptop i found that i had less problems with the second monitor output set to 32 bit colour (the same as my laptop screen), rather than 16 bit. I've got absolutley no idea why, but it might be worth trying on both settings if you're still getting problems. :)
