Hi Darren...welcome to VDJ!!!
Ok...first up, you need to make sure your external source is connected to your laptop before you power up.
Then, go into Control Panel>Display>Properties and make sure the second monitor is attached. To do this, go into the settings menu. You should see two monitors there. Right click on the second monitor and click 'Attached'. *Note - you may also need to select 'Extend my windows desktop to this monitor*
Then - boot up VDJ. Do not do this before you have attached your secondary monitor. Go into the config panel and go to Video. Click 'activate' and from the drop down box that appears, select your graphics card as opposed to window. Change the skin to 'Full Video' - makes it a bit easier to see what's going on.
Hey presto!!! You should have video!!! This is providing of course your laptop has dual outputs on the graphics...:o)
Good luck!
