Today I opened VDJ and decided to load some songs and enable automix while I chilled in my hotel room. All seemed to be ok when, suddenly, after a mix, a song from the queue didn't load. It read "error" on the deck the song should have loaded. The song also disappeared from the list. I tried a few other songs and the same error occurred. I disabled automix and tried loading a few songs, and I still got an "error" on both decks. I shutdown VDJ and brought it back up a few times, with the same results. Any ideas as to what the heck is going on? BTW, All files are mp3 files and have played on VDJ before.

EL are any of those 'songs' normally stored on an external harddrive? And you didn't have it hooked up? The only time (an yes I've done it to) I experienced what you described is when my external wasn't hooked up and I tried playing a song that existed on the external drive.

They are definitely there. I browsed through the ext drive and made a new favorite folder. The first few songs played ok, but then the errors came. Very odd.

Something must have changed? Has it happened since or still happening?

Really strange. It's been acting ok now. Not sure why it acted weird for so long. I made no changes. Where's the setting for having the crossfader move slowly across instead of just slamming to the other deck at the point of the mix? I've tried smooth and full and both produce cut'like crossfader movement.

If your fade time (the slider) is set to 0.0 then you will always get a 'CUT' effect.

Got it. I thought I had it at 5 secs, but it was really .5 secs. Why does the entry point always vary, though? Sometimes it's at the beginning and sometimes it's almost a minute into the song? Sorry for all the automix questions. I usually use it in regular mode.

And the answer is ????????????????.
Does anyone know?

Yeah, cstoll nailed the crossfader's cutting effect issue. I changed the fade length. Once I changed it to something other than .5 secs (I am using 5 secs now), the crossfader moves slower. As far as why VDJ wasn't loading songs properly, that remains a mystery. I'm just hoping it won't happen during a gig.

Turn on (Enable) the Force Fade - this will force VDJ to do a 5 sec crossfade (approx 2.5-3 sec on ending track into 2.5 - 3 sec on starting track -- again also dependent on the CrossFade setting FULL, SMOOTH, CUT, DISABLED?
With Force Fade disabled - VDJ attempts to find the strongest first down beat of the track so that's why you get the missing of the first X secs/min of a song that has that soft drift in intro.
As to the graphic the skin engine moves the graphic (picture) as fast or slow based on the crossfade time to go from one side to the other. The larger the time for fade the slower the graphic. Think about it - move a normal crossfader in 2.0 secs vs 5.0 secs -- on a real mixer - how fast are you moving it at 2.0 secs that 5.0 secs?
hope that helps.

Yes it did, Cstoll. Thanks for all the helpful information.

At all my settings for crossfader, the fader still moves way toooo fast. Although it starts 2.5-3 sec from the end of the song it takes way less than that to jump to the next song, and it makes many songs appear cutoff abruptly when many of them should have strong finishes right to the end. I like hearing a little bit of both songs as they mix in and out at about the same time interval that is set. But this is not the case, hence the abrupt endings on many songs.
