I'm trying to figure out how all this stuff works. Is it okay to connect my laptop to my mixer? I've seen some of these forums about soundcards and getting a new one. The laptop is new so do I need a new soundcard? Not really familiar with how that works. If someone could just give me a general idea as to what I need to do I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

It all depends on how you want to connect to your laptop.
If you have 2 outputs on your laptop you can link straight to your mixer. The other option is an external soundcard.
If this isn't too clear, post an image of the soundcard outputs on your laptop and I may be able to help further.
