Topic: Best way to crossfade video?

what is the best "hardware" to chose to crossfade video? i know you can get an ecler, or even a djm800, but what else are you guys using to crossfade video??? is their a cheaper alternative?

you could use two separate crossfaders.. .keep your current mixer for audio only and buy a MIDI controller like x-session or x-session pro to control the video fader.

under a hundred bucks and a good alternative

For me I don't have an actual fader, the DAC-3 I use has shortcuts that can move the fader over a set period of time.

The other day though I was experimenting with assigning a keyboard shortcut (the down arrow) to "video-trans" (activate transition). So I start the audio mix, then press the down arrow to activate the crossfader, which moves a third of the way across. It finishes crossfading when you stop the other deck.

But to make it more interesting, I press TAB to change the active deck and so the crossfader moves another third of the way across. you can keep pressing the tab button to "bounce" the video crossfader from side to side while in the mix if you want. Then obviously, crossfader moves over to the other side once the last song has finished or you stop it.

Can look quite cool, and since you don't have to move a physical dial your hands can concentrate on the audio mix!

is anyone using a djm800 from pioneer? I know that it is midi capable. Just wanted to get some feedback on this mixer for vdj if anyone is using it.
